A Associação Portuguesa de Entusiastas de Aviação – APEA, foi criada em 6 Março de 1998, e tem por objectivo “A promoção e divulgação da Aviação em Portugal”, conforme os seus Estatutos.

Na sua origem está a necessidade demonstrada pelos entusiastas nacionais de se reunirem sobre um mesmo tecto, defendendo o seu hobby e promovendo-o junto das autoridades aeronáuticas. Na era pré-APEA, os entusiastas encontravam-se dispersos pelo país, em pequenos grupos que não interagiam entre si. Para além disso, o desconhecimento deste hobby levava a que as autoridades aeronáuticas interpretassem mal a presença dos entusiastas nas imediações das instalações aeroportuárias e afins.

The Portuguese Association of Enthusiastic of Aviation - APEA, was created in 6 March of 1998, and has for objectivo “the promotion and spreading of Aviation in Portugal”, as its Statutes. In its origin it is the necessity demonstrated for enthusiastic the national ones of if congregating on one exactly tecto one, defending its hobby and promoting it next to the aeronautical authorities. In the age daily pay-APEA, the enthusiastic ones met dispersed for the country, in small groups that did not interact between itself. For moreover, the unfamiliarity of this hobby took the one that the aeronautical authorities badly interpreted the presence of the enthusiastic ones in the immediacy of the aeroportuárias and similar installations.
